Hull City are set to name Mike Phelan as permanent manager, sources close to the club have told ESPN FC.
Phelan has been acting as interim manager at the KCOM Stadium since Steve Bruce's shock departure in July, just three weeks before the start of the new Premier League campaign.
The former Manchester United assistant manager has helped steady the ship at Hull despite the difficulties faced by the club on and off the pitch.
Hull are on the verge of a takeover bid, while the club did not make their first signing of the summer until the final two days of the transfer window as Phelan was forced to start the season with just 13 fit senior players.
