Manchester United edged one step closer to the EFL Cup Final with a routine, if hard-fought, win over Premier League rivals Hull City at Old Trafford.
The Tigers, depleted by injury, put up an impressive resistance against Jose Mourinho's in-form Red Devils, but were breached twice in the second-half, Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini netting.
Fellaini's late goal means Marco Silva's men are at a major disadvantage ahead of the second leg, knowing they need to fight back from a two-goal deficit if they are to reach Wembley.
The hosts started on the front foot, Mata forcing a five save from Jakupovic in just the second minute.
