Hull City defender Alfie Jones says he enjoys the competition for places in Grant McCann’s team and is ready to take the opportunity to step up when required.
The 23 year-old joined the Tigers from Southampton in the summer and is looking forward to this weekend’s FA Cup fixture against Fleetwood Town, with Jones hoping to gain some minutes on the field.
“As a player, you always want healthy competition for places as it makes you want to perform better,” he said. “The boys that are playing at the moment have kept the shirt well, so as a player you just need to keep working hard on the training ground and wait for your opportunity.
