Gillingham sign Vokes and make Smith deal permanent

Gillingham have signed former Wales striker Sam Vokes on a one-year deal following his release by Wycombe Wanderers.

The club have also captured centre-back Andy Smith on a three-year deal from Hull City following the 23-year-old's loan move last season.

Vokes scored 30 goals in 144 appearances for the Chairboys, having previously twice won promotion to the Premier League with Burnley under Sean Dyche.

The acquisitions follow forward Seb Palmer-Houlden's move from Bristol City in May.
