Belfast-born Whyte came through the youth ranks at Crusaders in his native Northern Ireland, first breaking into the senior side in 2014.
The exciting winger scored an impressive 10 goals in 37 matches during his breakthrough season of 2014/15 as the Hatchetmen were crowned NIFL Premiership Champions.
Crusaders retained the title the following season before finishing runners-up in 2016/17, with Whyte scoring three and 10 goals in those campaigns respectively.
The 2017/18 season could hardly have gone any better as he plundered a career-best 24 goals in 44 games and helped Crusaders regain the NIFL Premiership crown.
