Former Rangers fans' favourite Shota Arveladze set to replace Grant McCann as Hull boss...as Turkish TV tycoon Acun Ilicali makes huge first decision since £30million takeover

Former Rangers striker Shota Arveladze is set to replace Grant McCann as Hull manager this week.

McCann, 41, is being sacked despite leading the Tigers to back-to-back wins since Acun Ilicali took ownership of the Championship club last Wednesday, having beaten front-runners AFC Bournemouth and Blackburn Rovers.

Turkish TV tycoon Ilicali always intended to make Arveladze his boss once he had the keys to the MKM Stadium and Hull’s recent form appears not to have changed his decision.

Arveladze was a favourite at Rangers during his playing days, scoring 57 goals in four seasons, in between spells at Ajax and AZ Alkmaar.
