The Texans worked out former News England Patriots outside linebacker Jonathan Freeny, according to a league source not authorized to speak publicly.
The Texans also worked out former Minnesota Vikings, Jacksonville Jaguars and New Orleans Saints linebacker Audie Cole, former New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Brian Parker and former Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Alex Ellis.
With the Patriots in 2015, he had 43 tackles and one sack, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries in 13 games and seven starts. Freeny is good at special teams. He spent most of last season on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.
