Texans' T.J. Yates into game, Tom Savage being evaluated

Texans starting quarterback Tom Savage went to the locker room to be evaluated for an injury and was replaced by backup T.J. Yates.

Savage got checked out by doctors under the tent on the sideline and Yates began warming up.

Savage was allowed to go back into the game, but was then taken out of the game and went to the locker room to be evaluated.

Yates is an experienced backup who has completed 58.1 percent of his career throws for 1,534 yards, six touchdowns and eight interceptions.

He completed his first pass to wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins and later rushed for 15 yards for a first down.
