Pro Bowl defensive end J.J. Watt didn't practice Monday during the Texans' opening day of organized team activity practices as he continues to work his way back from offseason groin surgery.

Watt had several core muscles repaired after a season where he was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year for a third time.

Watt also endured a broken hand and still had 17 1/2 sacks and 29 tackles for losses to lead the NFL.

Watt worked out on the side and has made steady progress in his recuperation from the procedure.

Meanwhile, Pro Bowl alternate left tackle Duane Brown remains sidelined as he recuperates from a torn quadriceps tendon that required surgery.
