Texans rookie Tytus Howard undergoes meniscus knee surgery

Texans rookie offensive tackle Tytus Howard underwent successful surgery to repair damage to the meniscus in his right knee, according to league sources not authorized to speak publicly.

The first-round draft pick from Alabama State is expected to make a full recovery in time for the Texans' offseason program.

Howard was placed on injured reserve last week with Chris Clark and Roderick Johnson rotating at right tackle as his replacements against the New England Patriots.

Once Howard shifted from left guard back to his natural right tackle position, Howard thrived with his physical blocking style.

Howard injected toughness and power into the offensive line.
