Texans rookie Justin Reid motivated by draft snubs

The significance of being overlooked in the NFL draft has stuck with Texans rookie safety Justin Reid.

Despite plenty of accolades at Stanford, the requisite size and speed and his NFL pedigree as the younger brother of former San Francisco 49ers Pro Bowl safety Eric Reid, Reid lasted until the third round as the 68th overall selection.

Reid is outplaying multiple players drafted before him. He has three interceptions, returning one 101 yards for a touchdown Sunday at FedEx Field and hasn't missed a tackle.

Being overlooked in the draft provides motivational fuel for Reid.

"It's definitely a chip on my shoulder, and I leave it there," Reid said.
