The Texans opened free agency by retaining one of their own.
The AFC South champions re-signed free agent defensive end Angelo Blackson to a three-year, $12 million contract, according to league sources not authorized to speak publicly.
Blackson is a valuable defensive lineman who has been a steady contributor since joining the team following previous stints with the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans.
