Texans: NFL concussion protocol followed with Tom Savage

Related Topics: Concussion, T. J. Yates

The concussion suffered by Texans quarterback Tom Savage involved multiple steps before he was ultimately ruled out for the remainder of the game under the NFL concussion protocol.

After Savage absorbed a punishing hit from San Francisco 49ers defensive end Elvis Dumervil, the quarterback was twitching his hands and was shaking on the ground.

Savage went to the sideline under the tent and was evaluated by an independent neurologist and team doctors. He passed the tests and went back in the game for one series after backup T.J. Yates had begun warming up in case he needed to go back into the game.
