Texans star J.J. Watt was back in his traditional defensive end position Monday, lining up in his stance and firing into the backfield.
Watt deflected a pass from new starting quarterback Brock Osweiler.
Watt returned from offseason groin surgery to repair several core muscles.
The three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year had predicted last week that he would soon be back on the practice field in addition to his rehabilitation routine.
Watt had surgery in January after a season where he played through a significant amount of pain. He also endured a broken hand, but still led the NFL with 17 1/2 sacks and 29 tackles for losses.
