The Texans honored the memory of Max Edison on Saturday night at NRG Stadium during a preseason game against the Detroit Lions.
The longtime former sports editor for the Houston Defender died in June at age 63 on his birthday.
The Texans' public relations staff placed a framed photograph of Edison and white flowers in the front row of the press box and held a moment of silence.
Edison played football at Sweeny High School before enrolling at Sam Houston State and starting a career in journalism.
