The Texans have hired University of Tennessee outside linebackers coach Chris Rumph, according to league sources not authorized to speak publicly.
Rumph is highly regarded in college football circles. This is his first NFL coaching job.
Rumph was also the co-defensive coordinator for the Volunteers program.
Rumph joins the Texans' staff after they fired outside linebackers coach and senior defensive assistant John Pagano, who is now coaching the Denver Broncos' outside linebackers.
