The Texans hired former New York Jets executive Clay Hampton as direct of football operations.
Hampton, 51, will report to general manager Brian Gaine, a former Jets tight end.
Hampton was a senior director of operations for the Jets. He began with the Jets as a ball boy.
Hampton also held the titles of equipment manager and operations assistant and worked in the press box with statistics.
