Texans cut rookie linebacker Eric Lee

The Texans placed rookie outside linebacker Eric Lee on waivers Tuesday.

Lee, who had signed as an undrafted free agent, played at the University of South Florida and participated in the three-day rookie minicamp.

Lee was trying to impress the coaches by making the transition from defensive end in college to outside linebacker in defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel's 3-4 scheme.

Before he was waived, the 6-3, 260-pound Lee was was being tutored by Texans linebackers coach Mike Vrabel, a former New England Patriots Pro Bowl outside linebacker who made the conversion to outside linebacker. Lee worked out privately for Vrabel before the NFL draft.
