The reason why Texans running back Alfred Blue didn't play against the San Francisco 49ers is due to a relatively minor shoulder injury.
The projected backup to starter Lamar Miller, Blue didn't practice Tuesday.
"He's dealing with a minor shoulder injury," Texans coach Bill O'Brien said. "It's not anything serious. We don't want to bring him back too soon."
Blue rushed for a career-high 698 yards and two touchdowns last season, catching 15 passes for 198 yards and one touchdown.
A former sixth-round draft pick from LSU, Blue has rushed for 1,226 yards and four touchdowns in two NFL seasons with 30 receptions for 222 yards and two touchdowns.
