JJ Watt says Houston Texans ‘got it right’ with DeMeco Ryans hire

The Houston Texans hired San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans as the team's new head coach Tuesday, a move that's drawn some major praise from one franchise icon in particular.

Former Texans defensive end J.J. Watt issued his stamp of approval Thursday when discussing the hire of Ryans. Watt and Ryans were teammates in Houston in 2011, when Watt's rookie season came in tandem with Ryans' last year in a Texans uniform. Ryans played six seasons in Houston from 2006-11, earning Defensive Rookie of the Year honors in his first NFL campaign.
