When the Jacksonville Jaguars interviewed Bill O'Brien for their head coaching vacancy a couple weeks ago, Texans fans rejoiced at the thought of their former coach running another team in the AFC South.
Alas, that dream for Texans fans appears dead as the Jaguars reportedly are close to hiring Buccaneers offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich for the job. Leftwich and the Jaguars are trying to clear up some final items on a contract, but are working to finalize an agreement, the Tampa Bay Times' Rick Stroud reported Wednesday morning.
The 42-year-old Leftwich, who was the Jaguars starting quarterback for four seasons, played nine years in the NFL before getting into coaching in 2017.
