‘I’ll play for a defense like that’: Texans spark comeback talk from Tyrann Mathieu

The Houston Texans' defense is among the best in the NFL by many metrics, a hard-hitting, fearsome unit that delivers plenty of pain on opposing quarterbacks and wide receivers.

Houston's 2025 dominance might inspire a former football legend to return to the gridiron.

Tyrann Mathieu, a 2011 All-American at LSU and a three-time NFL Pro Bowl selection, ended his professional career in 2024 after playing 12 seasons for four different teams. Watching the 2025 Texans seemed to spark a football itch.

"The way the Texans play defense, man listen, I'll come back and play for a defense like that," Mathieu told NFL reporter and media personality Kay Adams on Monday.
