The Houston Texans made a couple of transactions involving their practice squad due to the multitude of injuries that occurred in the defeat against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 16. Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reported that the Texans decided to promote rookie wide receiver Steven Mitchell from the practice squad after veteran wide receiver Demaryius Thomas suffered an unfortunate Achilles injury in their most recent game. Thomas was placed on the IR in order to open up a roster spot for Mitchell.
The Texans also decided to release inside linebacker Kennan Gilchrist to sign linebacker Chris Landrum to the 10 man practice squad.
