Ex-Texans QBs coach Sean Ryan joins Lions' staff

After two years of coaching quarterback Deshaun Watson, Sean Ryan is leaving the Texans' coaching staff.

The quarterbacks coach is taking the same position with the Detroit Lions, according to league sources not authorized to speak publicly.

Ryan replaces former Texans offensive coordinator George Godsey as the position coach for Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford. Godsey is set to join the Miami Dolphins' coaching staff as their tight ends coach.

Ryan had built a strong rapport with Watson, who threw a touchdown in the Pro Bowl on Sunday. Watson became the first NFL quarterback to pass for at least 4,000 yards and 25 touchdowns and rush for 500 yards and five scores.
