Even though the Texans being set to hire Lovie Smith as their next head coach came as a surprise Monday, the name is a familiar one among football fans. The Texans will be Smith's third head coaching job in the NFL after leading the Bears to a Super Bowl and an NFC Championship Game, followed by a short-lived stint in Tampa Bay.
Still, there's plenty to learn about the 63-year-old coach from East Texas. He's already in the Texas Sports Hall of Fame, partly because of his exploits as a player at Big Sandy High School and partly for what he went on to do as a coach.
