For the second straight year, the NFL is punishing the Dallas Cowboys for conducting offseason practices that were deemed to be too physical. Head coach Mike McCarthy was fined $100,000 and the Cowboys will lose a day of Organized Team Activity (OTA) practice next year. Last year, McCarthy was fined $50,000, the team was hit for $100,000 and a loss of a practice for the same infraction.
Teams are allowed 13 offseason practices, including 10 days of OTA that are conducted without pads. Although these are "no-contact" practices, occassionally linemen get tangled up or receivers and defensive backs go at each other too aggressively.
