The Texans will be on national television tonight as the only NFL game on. There have been times when that statement has raised dread in the hearts of Houston fans across the land. Bad memories of a team and coaching staff hopelessly outplayed, outreached, and outclassed, exposed for all to see, are the hallmarks of Texans fans when it comes to primetime football.
But we’re going to have to believe that this season will be different. We’ve got a young franchise (please, pretty please) quarterback in the form of Deshaun Watson, a top-flight wide receiver in DeAndre Hopkins, and a defense that can and does scare opponents (we shall not mention special teams or our offensive line).
