Controversial replay review proves key early in Super Bowl

It didn't take too long for the first controversy of Super Bowl 50.

On Carolina's second drive of the game, quarterback Cam Newton appeared to connect with wide receiver Jerrico Cotchery for a gain of 20-plus yards down the middle and a first down.

Cotchery juggled the ball, but appeared to come down with it. The officials on the field ruled it incomplete, and Panthers coach Ron Rivera promptly challenged the call.

CBS' replays appeared to show Cotchery with control of the ball as he hit the ground, but the call stood.

That led to a disastrous sequence of events for Carolina.
