Texans outside linebacker Whitney Mercilus and offensive guard Jeff Allen became fast friends on the Illinois campus, quickly deciding to be roommates.
Reunited with the Texans after Allen joined his college teammate this offseason via a four-year, $28 million contract, they disagree about who was the tidier one.
"Whitney was a great roommate, and he's a great teammate," said Allen, who was previously with the Kansas City Chiefs. "That was a while ago. I'd probably say I was the neat one.
“We chose each other. We kind of hit it off. We became friends and we’re still friends.
