Aaron Colvin's release sticks Texans with hefty salary-cap charge

The Texans will carry a total of $10.615 million in dead money by releasing veteran corner Aaron Colvin from his four-year, $34 million contract that included $18 million guaranteed.

Colvin, cut for performance issues after a rocky first season last year and allowing 8 of 9 completions for 117 yards and at least one touchdown in Monday's loss to the Saints, still gets paid the remainder of his fully guaranteed $7.5 million base salary this year.

The Texans now carry $8.656 million in salary-cap charges for the year for a player no longer on the roster. They will have a $2 million cap charge in 2020 for the pro-rated portion of his $4 million signing bonus.
