As you'll recall, I tracked the Tankathon standings each week last season with an eye towards the Houston Rockets' eventual landing spot. While the regular season hasn't yet begun, Tankathon 2023 got underway emphatically last week as the Metropolitans 92 (a French professional team) took on the G League Ignite in two exhibition games in Las Vegas, with presumed first overall pick Victor Wembanyama, all of 18-years-old, putting on a jaw-dropping display.
The 7-foot-4 center's performance was like a video game with the cheat codes on, showing off post moves, limitless range and a deft handle, scoring 37 and 36 points in each of the two games.
