The Rockets on Saturday as expected waived center/forward Ray Spalding, forward Matur Maker, also waiving guard Shamorie Ponds to reduce their roster to 16 players days before they must be at the no more than 15, not including players on two-way contracts.
While Spalding and Maker were never involved in a Rockets game or practice and were signed to secure their G League rights. Ponds played for the summer league team and went to camp with the Rockets, playing in three preseason games. He averaged 2.3 points in those brief appearances.
The Rockets have the G League rights for all three players.
