Rockets take De'Anthony Melton with No. 46 pick in draft

The Rockets went bargain hunting with their draft pick in the middle of the second round and with the unusual circumstances of De'Anthony Melton's sophomore year at USC, they might have found one.

The Rockets took Melton with the 46th pick, the Miami draft pick they acquired from the Memphis Grizzlies during last season's draft. He was their only pick of the draft, having traded their first-round pick to the Clippers in the Chris Paul deal.

Melton sat out last season because of the FBI investigation of improper benefits in NCAA basketball. A 6-3 guard with a 6-8 wingspan he used effectively as a disruptive defender, he had showed enough as a freshman to have been considered a possibility for teams picking late in the first round.
