Rafer Alston became a fan favorite in Houston during the 2000s with his energetic demeanor and flashy play as a point guard for the Houston Rockets. Alston now has a new role in the Bayou City after being announced Wednesday as the new head coach at the Lutheran South Academy.
Alston, 48, logged 11 NBA seasons from 1999-2010, playing for six different franchises. His most notable years were likely during his time in Houston, a four-year stint from 2005-09 in which he averaged 12.6 points per game and played on two teams with over 50 wins (he was traded to the Orlando Magic in 2009 and then promptly made the NBA Finals).
