Houston point guard Fred VanVleet has suffered a torn ACL, a source confirmed to Chron. The injury was first reported by ESPN's Shams Charania, and it could keep the Rockets' captain out for the entire 2025-26 season. VanVleet, 31, was preparing to start his third season with Houston in 2025-26, after signing a two-year, $50 million contract extension this summer.
VanVleet saw his scoring average (14.1 points per game) and shooting efficiency (37.8 percent from the field) decline in his ninth pro season and his second with the Rockets. But box score stats don't fully capture the value of Houston's floor general.
