After a parade of coaches have said they had never previously seen the defenses used against Rockets guard James Harden, Raptors coach Nick Nurse on Thursday practically declared “Hold my Molson.”
Nurse, known as a particularly creative and daring coach, went with a box-and-one in the NBA Finals against the Warriors’ Stephen Curry, a defense that Curry called “janky” but helped turn that series. Nurse said on Thursday he had another box-and-one, a triangle-and-two and some other options in mind to defend Harden and the Rockets.
“I think it’s so unique the way they play, it is a totally different thing you see from any other team,” Nurse said.
