Porter, just days away from his 23rd birthday, was the lone player to attend the introductory press conference for new coach Ime Udoka on Wednesday, a move that Udoka quipped will help Porter on the path to greater playing time in 2023-24. But more importantly than Udoka's words were that of Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta, who offered quite the endorsement of the team's talented-but-unproven point guard.
"In my six years of having this basketball team, there's no player that I've enjoyed talking [with] off the court, even during the games, than Kevin Porter Jr. right here," Fertitta said to close Wednesday's press conference.
