After a disappointing 4-7 start to the 2015-16 NBA season, the Houston Rockets fired head coach Kevin McHale on Wednesday.
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports was the first to report the move. Assistant J.B. Bickerstaff will take over as the interim head coach, while Chris Finch was promoted to associate head coach.
Wojnarowski added Bickerstaff has "no assurances" long term but has the "opportunity to earn the job on a full-time basis." Wojnarowski also listed Jeff Van Gundy, Tom Thibodeau and Charlotte Hornets head coach Steve Clifford as potential options to land the full-time position.
