Former Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy did not just take a side in the debate about former Rockets center Yao Ming's Hall of Fame worthiness. He disputed the notion that there should be more than one side at all.
With Yao's election to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame to be announced on Monday, Van Gundy said it was "a no-brainer" that Yao was elected.
"This guy should not be punished for injuries he suffered in the pursuit of greatness," Van Gundy said before the Rockets' game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday. "When he played, he was great.
