Nearly two decades after leaving Houston, the WNBA is expected to make a return to the Bayou City in 2027.
An ownership group led by Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta is in late-stage discussions with Connecticut Sun ownership to purchase the Sun and relocate the team to Houston, sources familiar with the negotiations confirmed to Chron on Friday. ESPN's Alexa Phillippou and Ramona Shelburne were the first to report Friday's news.
An official sale is in the works to be completed early in 2026, and the Sun would then play its final season in Connecticut.
