Even in search of high draft pick, Rockets defense needs work

This week actually brought a win as the Rockets snapped their eight-game losing streak against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday with an emotional 114-111 victory. The win was notable because it came as the result of an off-the-dribble stepback-three to beat the buzzer by guard Kevin Porter Jr., fresh off of serving a one-game suspension for leaving the arena during halftime of the team's loss to the Denver Nuggets. On the week, the Rockets went 1-2, getting blown out by the Philadelphia 76ers, 133-113 and by the Luka Doncic-less Dallas Mavericks, 130-106.

The Rockets also got dismantled on Sunday night by the Minnesota Timberwolves, 141-123, in a game that didn't even feel as close as the 18-point final spread.
