BREAKING: Rockets to hire Stephen Silas as head coach

The Rockets have filled their head coaching vacancy.

According to sources, the Rockets will hire former Dallas Mavericks assistant Stephen Silas as the franchise’s newest head coach.

Dallas Mavericks assistant Stephen Silas is finalizing a deal to become the next head coach of the Houston Rockets, sources tell ESPN.

Silas was a finalist for the position alongside Rockets assistant coach John Lucas and former Rockets head coach Jeff Van Gundy.

Silas has spent nearly two decades in the NBA as an assistant with stops in Charlotte, Cleveland, Golden State and Washington.
