According to John Hollinger and Sam Amick of The Athletic (subscription required), the Houston Rockets will likely not be bringing back coach Mike D’Antoni unless the Rockets win a championship this season. It’s not surprising considering the fact that the Rockets have not decided to give D’Antoni a new contract and have instead forced him to finish the remaining season of his deal.
If these reports are true, D’Antoni is in an interesting situation because if the Rockets do win the championship he’ll get a lucrative contract and he’ll essentially be able to pick his number.
