Rockets News: Dwight Howard close to return, inactive against Lakers Tuesday?

In a happy piece of Rockets news tonight, Houston Rockets star center Dwight Howard looks like he will back in the Rockets starting lineup very soon.

However, according to ESPN's Marc Stein, his return may not come against the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night:

Howard has been sidelined since late March with problems stemming from a cyst on his left ankle, partially due to necessity and partially to ensure that he is in the best shape possible for the Houston Rockets for the 2014 NBA playoffs.

“I don't want to sit out, but the most important thing is that I'm ready for the playoffs,” Howard stated in an article by Royce White on CBSSports.com.

It looks like the Houston Rockets agree with Dwight Howard's mindset on the matter, most likely holding him out of Tuesday night's road contest in Los Angeles as a precautionary measure to ensure that his ankle problem doesn't continue to hamper him when the NBA Playoffs begin in just under two weeks.
