Tomas Martinez's one-game suspension and fine that resulted from a red card issued during the Dynamo's loss against the Philadelphia Union on Wednesday was overruled by the Independent Panel, the club announced Friday.
Martinez was ejected from the match in the 59th minute after he tangled up with a Union player. The play was deemed "serious foul play" by the officials, who drew the ire of Dynamo coach Wilmer Cabrera after the game.
"We came to play," Cabrera said, according to the Chronicle's Glynn Hill. "But (Professional Referee Organization general manager) Howard Webb decided to put (in) a referee without experience and he killed the game.
