The Houston Dynamo and Portland Timbers played to a 1-1 draw at BBVA Compass Stadium on Wednesday night.
Mauro Manotas gave Houston the lead in the 40th minute, nodding in a flicked-on corner kick at the back post. Despite multiple opportunities for the Dynamo to add to their lead, the Timbers were able to equalize in the 77th minute as debutant forward Brian Fernandez received a long pass and beat the onrushing Joe Willis with his shot.
The Dynamo return to action on Saturday, May 18 to face D.C. United.
