The New York Red Bulls took control of the Supporters' Shield lead, after defeating the Houston Dynamo 1-0 on Wednesday at Red Bull Arena.
The teams both rotated their lineups for this midweek clash, although many of their stars were available on the bench. New York's win catapults them over the longtime Supporters' Shield leaders, Atlanta United, with both teams set to play this weekend.
After an ineffective first half for both teams, the Red Bulls grabbed the lead in the 55th minute, as a poor clearance led to an Alex Muyl cross and tap-in by rookie Brian White, making his first start and just his second appearance in league play.
