Houston fell in a 3-0 hole after 61 minutes on goals by Kekuta Manneh, Rashawn Dally and Victor Ulloa, but pulled to within a goal on a Romell Quioto penalty kick and Nick Hagglund own goal three minutes apart. But the comeback fell just short.
LAFC followed a 5-1 win over Sporting Kansas City with a 6-1 rout of the Vancouver Whitecaps, avenging their first loss of the season. After falling behind five minutes following kickoff on a Yordy Reyna goal, LAFC leveled on an Andy Rose own goal.
