Back-to-back NWSL champions FC Kansas City went through a little bit of a makeover this offseason, and have struggled to put together results early in the league schedule. Mainstays Lauren Holiday and Amy Rodriguez are out of the squad, with Holiday retiring and Rodriguez pregnant with her second child. Kansas City traded for Sydney Leroux in the offseason, but the USWNT forward also revealed that she is pregnant and would miss the 2016 season.
Through three games, the Blues are just above the bottom of the table, with one point from a draw a two losses. Both of FCKC's losses have come from a 1-0 scoreline, first to the Western New York Flash at home on opening day and then against Seattle Reign FC last weekend in a rematch of the past two NWSL Championships.
