Manchester City, the reigning English Premier League champions, will face Mexican powerhose Club América in a friendly for the Copa de Lone Star on July 20 at NRG Stadium. Tickets go on sale Thursday.
This will be Manchester City's first international friendly in more than two calendar years due to COVID-19 restrictions and their first time in Houston since facing Manchester United at NRG Stadium in 2017. Club América last played at NRG Stadium in 2006 when it faced FC Barcelona.
“We are thrilled at the opportunity to welcome these two iconic teams and their passionate fans back to Houston for one of this summer’s most exciting events,” Lone Star Sports & Entertainment president Greg Grissom said in a statement released to the media.
